If you’re burning in Dighton you will need to activate your permit on the day of your burn.

Activate your burn permit by logging into your account.

When allowed, burning can be done between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Burns may not start after 2 p.m.

Agricultural Permit

An agricultural permit is required for open burning activities in Dighton associated with the normal pursuit of agriculture. Only individuals/households that grow a crop or livestock for commercial resale qualify for this type of permit.

Open burning activities allowed with this type of permit include, but are not limited to, the open burning of blueberry patches for pruning, dead raspberry stocks, fruit tree pruning and affected beehives for disease control. In addition, an agricultural burn permit allows open burning of brush and trees resulting from agricultural land clearing operations.

An agricultural burn permit is valid through the end of the calendar year, and carries an annual fee of $10.

Agricultural burn permits are effective two hours after sunrise until 4:00 p.m. when the fire should be extinguished. On days that you are burning you must activate your burn by logging into the dighton.firepermits.com portal.

  1. A burn permit is required for open burning in Dighton for a fee of $10 per season. Open burning season is January 15 through May 1.

As part of the permit application process a $10 fee is required.

Weather conditions, lack of rain and moisture, wind and other factors may suspend the granting of an authorization to begin burning at any time. IF conditions do not allow for open burning, you will be unable to activate your burn.
